Come at 3pm

We'll travel nearby to an amazing park-like property in Groton, inspired by Innisfree in Millbrook, NY.  The garden features include multiple water elements:

  • bog and wetland, natural pond, formal pool, waterfalls, streams and a fountain,
and an interesting fire pit formed around an antique hearth built about 1880.
  • You'll marvel at the stonework – all dry laid--of the  retaining walls and support for the waterfalls,
and you'll want to talk to the mason who will be on-site to explain to us the engineering.

Back Yard ImageThen we'll return to visit the beautiful gardens of Ellin Hanlon, APLD.  Ellin has transformed what was once an acre of pine forest into a garden with interconnecting paths, interesting focal points, and lots of specimen plants.  You'll see entry gardens, side gardens, back gardens, and entertaining areas.  We'll enjoy the summer light of the late afternoon when the garden takes on an extra special glow.
Light refreshments will be served.

Join your fellow APLD members  for a special afternoon of exploration and networking.  Bring a friend, spouse or potential APLD member, if you wish.

RSVP:  designer@brightideasgardendesigns.com

After the tour, we plan to dine at the Gibbet Hill Grill in Groton.  This restaurant was once a working barn, and there are still views to the grazing cows on the hillside.   If you plan to join us for dinner, please let Ellin know when you RSVP, as she will need to make a reservation for the group.

Looking for a Designer?

The decision to hire a professional landscape designer can be one of the smartest investments you'll make toward enhancing your home and its setting. A landscape designer can work with you to turn that neglected corner into a garden sanctuary, or help you completely plan and furnish your outdoor living spaces with the creative use of plants, hardscaping, and other garden elements, resulting in a unified, balanced environment that you'll enjoy for years to come.

APLD® New England Chapter members continually hone their landscape design skills. Many of our members are Certified, which means they have submitted their work to a rigorous, juried peer-review process.

Find a qualified landscape designer for your project.
