Membership is open to seasoned landscape designers, landscape contractors, students, gardeners and vendors. If you are interested in joining a Chapter, you must be an APLD member at the national level in good standing. The New England Chapter Seeks:To provide the public with information about finding and working with a qualified professional landscape designer; To provide Chapter members with educational and training opportunities by sponsoring workshops, speakers, and other activities To build a community of landscape design professionals dedicated to providing mutual support and the exchange of information and ideas.
Categories of Membership and fees:Membership Level | Cost | Description | Certified | $190 plus $100 one time non-refundable filing fee or $125 for return of submittal package | Requires a judicial process that looks at a designer's work as well as references. You must first join as an Associate Member. | Emeritus | $100 | Permanently certified members who have reached the age of 70 and are still working in some capacity as a landscape designer. | Associate | $200 | Standard level of membership. Information on certification is included with member packet. | Educator | $125 | A professional landscape design educator or teacher who is not a practicing Landscape Designer. | Allied | $300 | Companies or individuals that provide services and/or products that are resources for the landscape design profession. | Student | | This individual must be actively enrolled in a landscape design, landscape architecture, or horticulture program that requires at least 37 credit hours or 600 contact hours of design and horticulture related coursework to graduate. (A contact hour is a unit of measure that represents one hour of scheduled instruction given to students.) A student member may not be practicing landscape design for free or in a fee-generating capacity unless it is part of a student internship related to their design program. | | | "Traditional Students” – Free Membership (with photocopy of student ID) Students who take classes full-time (as evidenced by transcripts) toward earning an Associate’s degree or higher in a post-secondary educational institution Limited to four years of membership at this level. "Professional Education and Certificate Students" - $50 Membership (with photocopy of student ID) Students who take classes and work toward earning a professional certificate in a program requiring at least 24 total required credits. Students are enrolled in either a full- or part-time basis. Also included in this category are part-time students attending a 2- or 4-year college or university. Limited to four years of membership at this level. Members taking courses to complete required CEU's for certification are excluded from this level of membership. Any student member may not be practicing landscape design for free or in a fee-generating capacity unless it is part of a student internship related to their design program. |
